from Halloween to birthdays....

As you can see blogging has not been a priority lately...or ever really, but I try to keep it updated as best I can;-) I'll start with how the boys dressed up at school the Friday before Halloween. Well, minus Parker's mustache. Cooper told Parker in the car-on the way to school- that it looked like he had chocolate milk on his upper lip. Parker immediately sunk in his seat, asked for his bandanna to cover his mouth, and wanted me to turn the car around to go back home. I wouldn't. Needless to say, when I arrived at his party that afternoon the mustache was gone. He still had his side burns though!

Last... while I've still been busy sewing and taking care of everyday life, I've really tried to slow down and soak up the small moments that are passing by so fast. God has blessed me with the opportunity to stay home with my boys and so often the time we have with them is taken for granted. A few things that I have had to remind myself lately is 1.) Pick my battles. 2.) Don't sweat the small stuff. 3.) He is just five. 4.) They love me even when the house and I am a wreck! 5.) They love each other...even though an outsider looking in would strongly disagree. They do. I've seen it.

It's been so long since I've blogged I'm not sure where to start, so I guess I'll start with this. My sweet baby got his first haircut. He sat as still as he could and when Maggie (my cousin, a.k.a. our beautician) was done he thanked her and gave her a kiss. PRECIOUS.

He also has moved into his big boy bed...which he LOVES!

Coop started kindergarten and loves it. It took a little adjusting, but all is good now. Parker has a crush on his teacher. He says she's beautiful. I don't care as long as he pays attention and so far, he can pretty much repeat everything the woman says.

Hudson wanted his lunch packed just like his big brothers. We pretend like he's at big school too.

Another project on my "to do list" was to paint my kitchen. Well, that too has been accomplished since school has begun. It turned out a little more blue than I wanted, but it is growing on me and I guess I can always paint over it.

Of course I've been able to rotten this little one a little more now that his older brothers are back at school. Oh... how I wish I could just stop time. Before I know it, he'll be starting big school.

for school to start and trying not to get sad. I know of all my babies...Cooper is the strongest. Smallest, yet strongest. I'm trying to imagine him walking into that big school with his backpack that is almost as big as him on his back, and it's hard! He's still my baby. After all, he's only been off the bottle for 2 1/2 years! hahaha ( just for you UMC girls) That was a joke! I do baby him a little. I know he'll be fine, and I'm sure he will love it! I just pray that no child says anything to him about his size. I know it's going to happen sooner or later. I won't always be there to protect him. This is one of the many times I have to let go and let God handle it.

Last minute, we decided we would go to the Vicksburg military park to do something "different".
It was so stinking HOT! The boys ran up and down the hills, looked at every cannon and enjoyed listening to the way things were "back then". Did I mention it was HOT! We got home to a house with no electricity, took cold showers, and decided to let daddy open his fathers day, a day early. The boys were so proud of the cards they made him. I'm so proud of the daddy and husband he is. He is a wonderful example to our three boys. I am blessed.

Last night we went out in search for crabs.

This was the first year I've been able to join in the fun. I have had a baby to stay in the room with every year. I know now why Aron discouraged me going...telling me I would have to pick the crab up for the boys and it would pinch me... so be careful! After hearing that, there was no way I was going! He would go hunting with the older boys and I would stay with the baby. Well we all went last night and it was FUN! Hudson was a trooper. We caught several. Aron was the only one who got pinched. He deserved it! The weather has been perfect and no oil has been spotted anywhere on the beach. Praise the Lord!

A few weeks ago, I asked God to do what ever he wanted to do with my little "side" job. I am finding more and more reasons to take a break. Summer is around the corner, drapes I would like to finish, two chairs I have fabric for but don't have the time to slip cover, the list goes on and on. Well, since then, to say I have been busy is an understatement. Our rule of no sewing after Aron gets home is shot! My sweet children have been neglected. Not really, but they sure think they have. Parker said it had been weeks since I watched animal planet with him. I guess a break right now is not what God has in mind.

This I found for 35.00 on Craig's list. The girl I bought it from said it was an antique. I am horrible at remembering to take before pictures but to give you an idea, it was white with stickers all over it. The drawers were falling apart. My- oh so talented- husband fixed it all. I painted and distressed it. It is perfect! Just what I needed for my sew room.

We passed a garage sale last weekend and I spotted this table from the road. I got it for 10.00. Again, it needed some love, but Aron took care of that. I painted it and it's like new. LOVE IT!

This lamp was in my attic. It is larger than most and had a brown leather shade. I really don't know why I ever liked it, but now I think I will enjoy it even more. I left the base as it was and recovered the shade with this delicious fabric.

If I could just find something to hide all of this! Fabric is my weakness.

I really need you to come out of hiding. Mom has come along way letting all you creatures live in the house. I'm sorry I always forget to feed you. Thankfully daddy has taken up that job. Mom said she'd hide too if someone was always trying to pull her legs out of the shell. Sorry about that too...I was trying to be easy. I am just really curious. To be honest...I forgot about you when I took you out of the box-a week ago!Last night daddy realized he'd been feeding a sponge and a bunch of shells that I found at the beach the same time we got you. I feel sure you will have plenty to eat. If you get hungry...go look under the couch. There is old cereal and goldfish that should hold you another year. My first born son turned 7 last Friday! I can't believe how time flies. We are experiencing the normal "growing pains"- smart mouth, I think I know everything attitude. But most of the time we get this little boy with the biggest heart and the most precious smile. We ask a lot of this little man. I think that comes with being the oldest. He is such a good helper and a great example for his brothers. I am so proud of him. Happy birthday my son!

Parker shot his first deer Thursday. I don't think he would have been anymore excited if it was a 12 point. It was a pretty good shot for a 6 year old. It is so hard to believe that my sweet baby is one year old today! This one has been really hard for me. It seems like yesterday... I was praying for God to give us another baby and now he is 1! I am so blessed to be able to stay home with him. I've been able to see and enjoy every new step in his life, something I regret not being able to do with the other two. Hudson is the happiest, most loving baby. He thinks he is as big as his brothers and absolutely loves it when they give him any attention. He is pure joy. We love you Hudson. Happy Birthday!

Today was silly hat day at Coops school. We made this hat yesterday and he LOVED it. If you know Cooper, you know he has always had a love for bugs. He goes through the house wanting to find cobwebs(we all have them) hoping that a spider is in them so he can "look at it". When he was just two, he found a black widow on our front porch and picked it up. Scared me to death! Nothing scares him. No matter how many times we have told him that there are poisonous bugs, he is still so fascinated by them. Which brings me to the silly hat day- hat. This was a hat of his dads that I found on top of the refridge outside and the net was the one we used last week to catch crabs at the beach. As for as the bugs....well, we had them all. I told him to go look under beds, couches, dressers and everywhere else that they might have kicked a bug under while they were cleaning up. Of course.... I had to make a shirt to go along with the theme. I am so blessed to be able to have the time to do these special things for them. I've always tried to be as involved with their activities as possible, but I did not realize, even working part-time, how much I missed.

"Can we live at the beach?" We were asked this question at least 10 times a day. I guess that is a good indication that they had fun. We did absolutely nothing... just went to the beach and pool everyday, all day. It was so relaxing. I must say it was a lot harder getting them up for school this morning than it was getting them up before daylight to catch crabs. Hudson was a real trooper. It only took him one time to eat the sand, and he realized he didn't want to do that.

Hallelujah!! I am done! A few minor details and that is it. Busy is not the word for what I have been over the past few weeks.This is some of what I have made for a new children's consignment/boutique called Peppy & Posh located in Clinton. It will open its doors the first week of September. I have had many sleepless nights..... only because my mind goes 90 to nothing thinking of different ideas. I'm exhausted, but it has been fun.
